William Finley Lewis JR
William Finley Lewis, Jr., 79, of 7881 Cox Gap Road, Boaz, Ala., died Sunday,
July 27, 1997.
He was born May 22, 1918 in Worthington to the late William Finley and Della
Celeste (Hilliard) Lewis.
A 1935 graduate of Worthington-West Franklin High School, Worthington, Pa.
He retired from Republic Steel, Gadsden, Ala., after 35 years of service and was
a veteran of World War II in the European Theatre.
He is survived by second wife, Mary E. "Libby" (Edwards-Lewis) Lewis, Boaz;
daughters, Shella (Michael) Cape, Georgia, and Rebecca Sue Lewis, Gadsden, Ala.;
son, William Douglas Lewis, Prattville, Ala.; step-son Thomas G. (Linda) Lewis,
Butler, Pa.; sister, Della Elaine Lucus, Florida; grandchildren, Kelly Payne,
Dothan, Ala., Nathaniel Lewis and Jonathan Lewis, both of Prattville, and
great-grandchildren, Richard Payne and Laura Payne, Dothan, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theresa Merle (Riddle) Lewis who
died in 1980; a brother, Ronald S. Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Boaz Carr
Funeral Home, 807 Sparks Avenue, Boaz. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at
the Boaz Carr Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment in Forrest Cemetery, Gadsden, Al.
