Alex Christopher Costanza

Alex Christopher Costanza, 77, of Allegheny Township, died Saturday, March 17,
2007, in his son's home. 

He was born March 10, 1930, in Arnold, a son of the late Dominick and Florence
(Moreale) Costanza, and lived the past 41 years in Allegheny Township. 

He was employed by the Kiski Area School District as director of music, where
his performing groups earned national honors and recognition.

He was part of the facutly of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1957-1958 through 1961-1962 school years. 

He also taught at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Clarion University,
retiring in 1981. 

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean conflict, and was a
member of the Air Force Band. 

He attended the Apollo United Presbyterian Church, Apollo. 

Mr. Costanza was a musician, teacher, mentor, clinician and performer. He
regionally served as guest conductor on numerous occasions for area festivals
and honors band performances. 

Mr. Costanza played the saxophone professionally for many years and taught music
in his home. 

He was also an active member of the Apollo Elks and VFW in Lower Burrell.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed gardening and fishing. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John. 
Beloved husband of Marian "Minnie" (McCurdy) Costanza; daughters, Alexa
(Michael) Hansen, of Westlake, Ohio, Crystal Ross, of Indiana Township; son, Kim
(Amy) Costanza, of Cranberry; 11 grandchildren, Samantha, Alexander and Oliver
Hansen, Angelo Ross, and Elizabeth, Ruth, Phoebe, Peter, Naomi, Samuel and Bo
Costanza; two sisters, Viola Marino, of Alta-Loma, Calif., and Clara Nelson, of
New Kensington; and a brother, Victor Costanza, of Washington Township. 

Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the
CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo, PA
15613. Services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in Apollo United Presbyterian
Church, Apollo, with his son, Kim Costanza, officiating. 

Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell, Pa.
