Avanelle Kathryn Shearer Ross
Avanelle Kathryn (Shearer) Ross, 88, of 3247 Glengreen Drive, Lancaster, Pa.
died Monday, July 19, 2004 at ManorCare Health Service, Lancaster after a
lengthy illness.
She was born, December 25, 1919, in Armstrong County to John Pressley and Mary
Myrtle (Ruffaner) Shearer.
She was a member of the second graduating class of Worthington-West Franklin
High School in 1934, Worthington, Pa.
Mrs. Ross was a homemaker.
She was a member and former deaconess of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in
Lancaster.
For many years, she had volunteered at her church and at Faith Venture Visuals
in Lititz, Pa.
Her hobbies were crafts and cooking.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Evelyn Latta, of Lancaster, with whom she
resided.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph R. Ross, who died
Sept. 1976; two brothers, Oren Berdett Shearer, June 8, 1998, and Richard Max
Shearer, May 22, 1996; and one sister, Bernice Lavelle Claypoole, June 2, 2001.
Interment in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pa.
