Carl Leroy Lewis

Carl Leroy Lewis, 77, of Worthington, Pa., died Monday, December 25, 1989 at the
Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township, Kittanning, Pa.

He was born on June 7, 1912 in Worthington, to Perry Newton and Clara Jane
(Gaiser) Lewis.

He graduated with the (Class of 1933) from Worthington-West Franklin High School
(first ever graduating class), Worthington, Pa.

He retired as an electrical foreman from Pullman-Standard, Butler, Pa. He was a
member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Worthington, where he was a lay
minister; was a member of the Worthington Lions Club; and a lifetime member of
the Worthington-West Franklin Volunteer Fire Dept.

He is survived by his wife, Olive E. (Berkhouse) Lewis, whom he married in 1938;
one son, Newton Edward Lewis of El Paso, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Sherwood
(Patricia Lee) Streeter of Sandusky, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 14
great-grandchildren; one brother, Samuel Charles Lewis of Greenville, Pa.; and
two sisters, Mrs. Clair R. (Vera Catherine) Kinter of Meadville, Pa., and Mrs.
Irene Elizabeth Stewart of New Wilmington, Pa.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Luana Ritzert on December 19,
1969, and one brother, John Newton Lewis on December  23, 1988.

Friends of Carl Leroy Lewis, 77, of Worthington, Pa., who died Monday, December
25, 1989, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, at
the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington. Visitation will also be held
from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 1989, at the Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Worthington, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with the
Rev. Donald S. Worth officiating.

Burial will follow in Worthington Lutheran Church Cemetery, Worthington, Pa.
