Paul W Claypoole

Paul W. Claypool, 94, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Saturday, April 19, 2008. 

He was born September 25, 1913, in North Buffalo Township, Armstrong County,
near Center Hill.

He was a lifelong public school educator and principal, teaching all grades and
leading elementary, junior and senior high schools in his career. He taught
science and math at Apollo High School, was the high school principal at
Elderton Joint High School and was both a teacher and principal at Corry Area
schools.

He was part of faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1941-1942 school year. 

He was a former resident of Apollo, Elderton, Corry and Sebring, Fla.

He retired to Florida in 1977, where he was active in Church of the Brethren in
Sebring, the volunteer fire company and many other community initiatives. He
provided leadership for the creation of the Palms of Sebring, a Brethren
retirement facility. He lived for the last 15 years at Westminster Palms in St.
Petersburg. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Wingard) Claypool and survived by
his daughter, Mary Jane Knight, of New York City, N.Y.; son, John P. Claypool,
of Philadelphia; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. 

Relatives and friends are invited to an interment service at 11 a.m. Monday at
Center Hill Cemetery, Center Hill. Pa.
