Richard G Stottlemyer

Richard G. Stottlemyer, 86, of Kittanning, died Saturday, December 22, 2007, at
ACMH Hospital. 

He was born June 21, 1921, in Apollo, son of the late James Robert and Cora
Irene McMillen Stottlemyer. 

He was a member and elder of Grace Presbyterian Church, Kittanning East Brady
Masonic Lodge No. 244, New Castle Consistory and the BPOE Elks Lodge of
Kittanning. 

He was an Army veteran serving in the European Theater as a staff sergeant. 
He was a 1938 graduate of Apollo High School, Thiel College in 1948 and attended
the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Maryland, where he earned his
doctorate degree. 

He became superintendant of Armstrong School District in 1970 and retired from
his career in education in 1980 after 32 years of public education. Throughout
his life, he was an avid gardener. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol L. Himmelrich Stottlemyer, they were married
on Aug. 14, 1948; son, Craig B. Stottlemyer and his wife, Charito, of
Mechanicsville, Md.; daughter, Kathy J. Stottlemyer of Kittanning; two
grandchildren, Eric J, Stottlemyer and Emily C. Stottlemyer; and a brother,
James R. Stottlemyer of Torrance, Calif. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Jacqueline
Stottlemyer and Margaret King. 

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 10 a.m. until the
time of services at 11 a.m. Thursday at BAUER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION
SERVICES INC., 515 North McKean St., Kittanning, with the Rev. David Caves
officiating. 

The family requests memorial donations be made to Grace Presbyterian Church or
Kittanning Public Library.
