Elizabeth Mary Brown Stillwagon

A longtime public school teacher. Elizabeth Mary "Betty" Brown Stillwagon, 88,
of 416 Short Street was found dead at her residence yesterday morning, February
15, 1999, following an illness.

She was born November 28, 1910, in Butler to the late Elias and Belle (MvGrew)
Brown and was married July 16, 1941 to Harry Floyd Stillwagon, who died August
26, 1987.

The Stillwagons owned and operated Stillwagon Jewelers in Ellwood City from 1953
until 1959.

A graduate of Butler High School and a 1933 graduate of Slippery Rock State
Teachers College. Mrs. Stillwagon taught for some 38 years.

She was part of the faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1932-1933 and 1933-1934 school years.

She taught in Zelienople from 1935 to 1937 and then in Ellwood City Area School
District from 1937 until retiring in June 1973. She taught at Wayne Township,
Ewing Park and Hartman schools.

She was also a longtime member of Christ Presbyterian Church and belonged to
Ellwood City Court 212, Order of Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association,
AARP and Wimodausis.

Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins,

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and only sister Thelma Brown
Craig, who died December 1992.  

Friend may call from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at Turner Funeral Home, Sixth Street
at Park Avenue. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home
with the Reverend R. Todd Custer officiating.

Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Ellwood City, Pa.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Stillwagon's name may be made to Christ
Prebyterian Church, Spring Avenue.
