Richard C. Hagele, 73, of Indiana, Pa., died Thursday, May 28, 1998, at his
residence.
 
A son of Charles and Ethel (McElwain) Hagele, he was born December 21, 1922, in
Tarentum, Pa., Allegheny County.
 
Mr. Hagele was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Indiana; Aging
Services Advisory Council; a life member of the VFW Post 141, both of Indiana;
and the Western Pennsylvania Masonic Pollock Lodge 502 of Tarentum. He was also
a volunteer at the Indiana Senior Citizens Center. He was a veteran of World War
II having served in the U.S. Army.
 
He earned a bachelor's degree from the Indiana State Teachers College, now
Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a master's degree from Temple
University.
 
He spent a short time teaching at Worthington-West Franklin High School,
Worthington, Pa. Mr. Hagele was employed as a guidance counselor for Del Haas
High School in Levittown for 22 years, and for the Indiana Area School District
for 23 years before his retirement in 1990.
 
Surviving are his wife Florence (Hue) Hagele, whom he married May 20, 1946; and
a son, John C. and wife, Jodie (Dick) Hagele, of Pittsburgh, Pa.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Kim Charles, who died
in 1952.
 
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from noon to 2 p.m.
Saturday, the time of service, at the Bowser - Minich Funeral Home in Indiana,
Pa. The Rev. D. K. Larson will officiate.  

Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Lower Burrell, Pa.
 
Graveside military services will be provided by VFW Post 1969 of Indiana.
 
Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Association/Hospice
Foundation, 119 Professional Center, Indiana, Pa., 15701, or to the American
Cancer Society.
