Anna G. Moore Bowser, 97, of Worthington, Pa., West Franklin Township, Armstrong
County, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at her residence. She was born Aug. 8,
1909, in Boggs Township, Armstrong County, a daughter of the late Harvey and Ada
(Barker) Moore, and stepdaughter of the late Violet (Alcorn) Moore.
 
Anna graduated from Dayton High School, Dayton, Pa., in the same class as
Loureigh B. Good, who taught with her in the Worthington-West Franklin School
District, Worthington, Pa.
 
She was a member of West Valley Grange where she was introduced to her future
husband, Roy K. Bowser, by Dorothy A. Claypoole Claypoole, WWFHS - Class of
1933. Before getting married and moving to Worthington, Mrs. Bowser was a member
of the Concord Presbyterian Church near Dayton.
 
On December 31, 1935, Anna G. Moore and Roy K. Bowser were married and came to
live on the Frank J. Bowser farm in West Franklin Township, Worthington, where
she lived until her death. The Frank J. Bowser farm has been designated a
Century Farm in continuous family ownership for 100 years.
 
A graduate of the two year certification program from Slippery Rock Teachers
College, Slippery Rock, Pa. She was a teacher for many of the Armstrong County
schools. She taught and did substitute work for twenty years in Worthington,
retiring in 1970. She also tutored and was a substitute teacher after
retirement. She was an active member of Franklin Union Baptist Church, West
Franklin Township, Worthington, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and
held several church offices including church treasurer. She also was very active
in the Worthington 4-H Sewing Club where she taught sewing to the young members
of the group. Her main hobby was making quilts which she enjoyed giving to many
family members and friends.
 
She is survived by a son, Donald Roy (Shelby J.) Bowser, of Worthington, who
continues to farm the family farm.; a daughter, Shirley Mae (Ralph E.)
Williamson, of Dayton, Pa.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and
three great-great-grandchildren.
 
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by her
husband, Roy K. Bowser, on Jan. 22, 1996; a brother, Kenneth Moore; sister,
Edith Troutman, and an infant sister.
 
When she was asked for any observations or comments, Anna would say that she
married into the community and has been very content.
 
Friends will be welcomed by her family from 10 a.m. until time of funeral
ceremonies at 11 a.m. Thursday at Franklin Union Baptist Church, West Franklin
Township, with the Rev. George Hall officiating.
 
Interment following in Franklin Union Baptist Church Cemetery, West Franklin
Township, Worthington, Pa.
 
In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial contributions be made to her
church.
