Lois E Zellefrow Reed

Lois E. (Zellefrow) Reed, 104, of Worthington, died Sunday, April 25, 2010, at
her residence. 

She was born November 5, 1905, in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Arthur O.
Zellefrow and Ida (Cochran) Zellefrow. 

She lived in the area for 83 years. 

Lois taught English, foreign language and penmanship at the old Worthington
School on Church Street. Later, when the Worthington West Franklin High School
opened, she taught the same courses, teaching the first graduating class of
1933. 

She was a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church since 1939. 

In 1927, Lois earned her teaching degree from Thiel College, where she graduated
with honors. 

In 1949, Lois and her husband, Paul, purchased Worthington Hardware. In 1951,
they built the current building and moved the hardware business, expanding it
into its present location. 

Survivors include her sons, James Roderick and Joanne Reed, of Fenelton, and
William Paul "Pete" and Linda Reed, of Worthington; daughter, Mildred Ann "Sis"
Cunningham, of Pensacola, Fla.; grandsons, Gregory and Audrey Reed, of
Worthington, and William E. Reed, of Worthington; granddaughters, Rhonda Reed,
of Fenelton, Paula and Joseph Semler, of Margaret, Pa., and Crystal Rosser, of
Cranberry; step grandson, Eric Wolfe, of West Kittanning; six
great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Phyllis
Reichard, of Freeport. 

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Paul Reed, in
1973; and her sister, Mildred Goldstrohm. 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at F. DUANE
SNYDER FUNERAL HOME in Worthington. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at
the Worthington Presbyterian Church with additional viewing at 10 a.m. The Rev.
John Speck, her church pastor, will officiate. 

Interment in Worthington Presbyterian Cemetery, Worthington, Pa. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Worthington Presbyterian Church.
