Helen O Wassum Bowser

Helen 0. Wassum Bowser, 75, of Gastown, died Saturday, August 12, 1995, at her
home. 

Born June 2, 1920, in Shamburg, Clarion County, she was the daughter of Claude
R. Wassum and Grace (Hodil) Wassum. 

She was a member of St. Thomas United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday
school. 

She also was a member of Silver Star Rebekah Lodge 67, Elderton; Eastern Star
277, Kittanning; Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees; the Armstrong
County Chapter of PASR; the Clarion Alumni ssociation and the AARP. 

She was a school teacher for 39 years and had been employed by the Armstrong
School District at Worthington and East Franklin Schools and formerly at Clarion
County schools. 
She was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College. 

Surviving are two brothers, Carl Wassum, Clarion; Lloyd Wassum, Sligo RD 1; one
sister, Twila, Shelocta RD 1; 11 nephews and four nieces. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Bowser, who died on July 9;
her parents; one brother, Dale Wassum. who died in 1980; and one sister, Martha
Stahlman, who died in 1984. 

Friends will be received today, from 2-4 and 6:30-9 p.m. at Clark Chapel,
Elderton, where an Eastern Star service will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by a
Rebekah service at 7p.m. Private funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday with the Rev. Fred Drayer of the St. Thomas United Church of Christ
officiating. 

Interment will be in the Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, Pa.
