Ronald Blaine Shellhammer

Ronald Blaine Shellhammer, 78, of Kittanning, passed away on Wednesday, March 1,
2023, at his home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born October 4, 1944, in Parks Township, a son of the late Nelson and
Jeanette (Peppler) Shellhammer.

He was self-employed, the founder of Shellhammer Atwood Agency.

He was part of the faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1968-1971 school years.

Ron attended Grace Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder, and
Walkchalk Salem Baptist Church. He was a member of the Kittanning Elks, serving
as a trustee, and the Masons.

He enjoyed cooking, especially grilling, furniture restoration, collecting
antiques, and vacations in Nags Head. He loved spending time at the river with
his family and friends.

Ron was a good man and a great friend. He loved his family, his friends and his
dogs. He was known as “Pop” to his beloved granddaughters, Lily, Annie and
Sadie.

He was a loving and devoted husband and father who will be so very missed by
Susie and his family. We know after he crossed the rainbow bridge with his dogs,
he is dancing in heaven with Adam.

Left behind to forever cherish his memory includes his wife of 54 years, Susan
H. Shellhammer; daughter, Molly Atwood and husband, Bret; granddaughters: Lily,
Annie and Sadie Atwood; brothers, Jerry (Denice) Shellhammer and Lenny (Linda)
Shellhammer; brother-in-law, George (Carol) Hay; sister-in-law, Sally (David)
Deist; several nieces; and friends who became family: the Bower family, the King
family, the Sikora family, the Nicley family, the Dosch family, and Mike and
Debbie Bowser.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his son, Adam Hay
Shellhammer.

Ron’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Lutheran Senior Life VNA
of Western PA, the nurse aides and therapists who always went the extra mile,
and all of the wonderful caregivers who became like family. Thank you for all
the special visits and prayers from all those who loved Ron.
