Deanna Schaeffer

Deanna Mary Schaeffer, known to family and friends as "Dee", passed away on
December 16, 2018 at her residence in Clermont, Florida. Dee was surrounded by
family showering her with love and comfort until she joined our heavenly Father
at the age of 81 years.

She was born to Leo and Madeline Hoylen on March 31, 1937 in Corry,
Pennsylvania.

Dee graduated from Corry High School in 1955 and attended Indiana University of
Pennsylvania, receiving a bachelor's degree with an English major in 1959 and
later a master's degree in Library Science from James Madison University.

In 1959, she married the love of her life Ted and had four beautiful children.
Dee was an amazing mother who loved her children and grandchildren with all her
heart. She loved having her family together for Sunday dinners, family time, and
the holidays. This filled her with so much joy.

Dee would light up a room with her warm smile and bright blue eyes. She was
small in stature, but she made up for it with her spirit, humor, and her huge
heart of gold. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all
who knew her. She always made everyone feel loved and appreciated at all times.
Her love for football was no joke….especially her Washington Redskins and
Virginia Tech teams. There was much pleasure shared on Chincoteague Island with
her husband Ted, spending time on beach trips, days at Disney with family,
spontaneous adventures with her daughter Teri, and reading stories to her
grandchildren. Dee had a strong faith in God, which she instilled in her
children and those around her.

Prior to Dee becoming a librarian, she taught high school english and math with
the Women’s Auxiliary Wives Club in Virginia. She was the first librarian at
Christa McAuliffe Elementary also in Virginia and retired after years of love
and dedication to the school and children. Dee was pivotal in the opening of
the library and creating an environment where children grew their love of
reading. She also served by helping others learn to read through the Clermont
Library literacy program.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren; Tabb (wife Beverly, children;
Rebecca and Ted), Mark, Teri, and Steven (wife Shannon, children; Trevor,
Allison, and Ryan); sister Kathy (husband David), her beloved puppy Gabi, and
many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends, and family too numerous to list but not
forgotten.

Deanna is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Ted. She is predeceased
by her mother and father, Madeline and Leo, brother Billie and sister Grace.

Viewing ceremony will be held on Friday December 21, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at
Becker Funeral Home, 806 W. Minneola Ave. Clermont, Florida.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 22, 2018 at 1:00 pm at
Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 720 12th St. Clermont Florida.

Burial with her husband Ted at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia
at 11:00 am on Friday December 28, 2018.

Dee had so much love and respect for those serving in the armed forces. Her
request was that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Fund in lieu of
flowers.
