William Best
William Best, 84, formerly of N. McKean St., Kittanning, died at 1:30a.m. today,
August 11, 1983, in Veterans Administration Hospital, Leech Farm, Pittsburgh,
where he had been a patient for the past nine months.
A life-long area resident he was born in Clarion County March 19, 1889 to Victor
and Cora (Neely) Best.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kittanning, BPOE Elks Lodge
of Kittanning, Masonic Lodge of Parker, Veterans of Foreign Wars of Kittanning
and Coudersport Consistory. A veteran of World War I and II, he was retired from
the U.S. Army and from Armstrong School District, where he had been employed as
a teacher.
He was part of the faculty of Worthington-West Franklin High School for the
1932-1933 and 1933-1934 school years.
His wife, Florence C. Best, died in 1966.
Surviving are one son, Charles "Sam" of Ford City; one daughter, Helen Best of
Kittanning; two sisters, Mrs. Mary McCoy of Punxsutawney and Mrs. Sara Bullman
of Parker and one grandchild.
Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa.
