Laverta G. McCoy, 81, of 324 Ross Street, Worthington, Pa., died Monday, October
22, 1990 at her residence.
 
She was born April 21, 1909 in Scottsdale, Pa., to Oliver and Ethel (Free)
Jarrett.
 
After graduating from West Chester College, West Chester, Pa., in 1927, she
taught first grade for four years in the Leechburg Public School System,
Leechburg, Pa. After moving to Worthington the summer of 1954, she taught fourth
grade in Craigsville, Pa. for the Worthington-West Franklin School District
until her retirement in 1968.
 
She was a member of the Worthington Presbyterian Church.
 
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, John H. McCoy, a former school
administrator in the Worthington-West Franklin School District; two sons, Donald
Oliver McCoy of Mentor, Ohio, and Terry Gene McCoy of Rural Valley, Pa.; and six
grandchildren.
 
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Reiber.
 
Laverta G. McCoy, 81, of 324 Ross Street, Worthington, Pa., who died Monday,
Oct. 22, 1990, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Wednesday at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home in Worthington, where funeral
services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jonathan Speck, pastor
of Worthington Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in the mausoleum of Lawn Haven Memorial Park, East Franklin
Township, Worthington, Pa.
