Hazel Montebell McCoy

Hazel Montebell McCoy, 82, of Worthington, died peacefully Thursday, September
9, 2010, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. 

She was born July 17, 1928, in Northumberland, a daughter of Harold and Myrtle
(Epler) Mertz. 

Hazel graduated from Clarion University with a teaching degree. She started
teaching in a one-room schoolhouse and later taught at Worthington Elementary
and West Hills Elementary. 

She was also the owner of Montebell Twin Lake Par 3 Golf Course. 

She was a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church. 

In her spare time, Hazel enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crafts, and spending
time with her family. 

She is survived by a daughter, Susan (Patrick) Martin, of Houston, Texas; two
sons, Donald (Monica) Montebello, of Kittanning, and Larry (Jennie) Montebell,
of Kittanning; eight grandchildren, Daniel Martin, Christopher Martin, Gretchen
(J.T.) Chovanes, Stephen Montebello, Nicholas Montebello, Jenna Montebell,
Lauren Montebell and Elena Montebell; and three sisters, Dorcas Peake Welch, of
Lewisburg, Pa., Janice Beckley, of Mifflinburg, Pa., and Florence Slingerland,
of Williamsport, Pa. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T.
Montebell, whom she married on Aug. 18, 1951, and who passed away Nov. 13, 1984;
her second husband, John McCoy, whom she married on May 31, 1992, and who passed
away Jan. 7, 1994; and a granddaughter, Kerry Diann Martin, who passed away Aug.
19, 1985. 

Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Worthington Presbyterian
Church, with one hour of additional viewing at the church prior to the service.
The Rev. Jonathan Speck will officiate. 

Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Kittanning, Pa. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Hazel's memory to the American
Heart Association.
